    gathered together and the old people came too. When all the crowd had assembled the fire was lit and it was then the enjoyment and fun began. The young people danced jigs,reels, horn-pipes and many other Irish dances around the fire. After that the old people sang songs and told stories.
    As the fire blazed up high the people were over-joyed and danced and sang until mid-night. When the fire was nearly burned out they made the cattle jump over the dying embers and walk all round it so that they would have luck.
