- In this country potatoes are planted either in bawn ground or in bawn stubble ground. They may be planted either in drills or ridges.
If drills are used the ground is ploughed before Christmas and it is harrowed and cross-ploughed in the Spring. Then the drills are opened and then the farmyard manure is drawn out and put in heaps along the drills.
It is then strewed along the drills and the artifical manure is strewed along on top of the farmyard manure.
The seed-potatoes are then placed on the manure at a distance of about six to nine inches apart.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
