    There is a road leading from Tralee to Castlemain. It is called the "Short Mountain". It is usually used by people travelling on foot. There are many strange stories told about this place.
    At one time people were afraid to go that road on account of a ghost that used to be seen there. This ghost was a lady dressed in white. When she saw a person coming on horse-back, she jumped up on the horse behind him, and before the cock would crow that person would die. This went on for many years.
    At last, one night, a man who was going from Tralee to Killorgin crossed the Short Mountain. The white lady jumped up on the horse behind him. He sang a song in praise of her, and when the cock crew, she said, "Your song saved your life", and then
