    If a person is asked to become sponsor for a child it is unlucky to refuse.
    It was supposed to be lucky for a child, boy especially to wear a red tie or bow (supposed to keep off the evil eye).
    No one should ever dream of saying "she or he is a fine child" etc., without saying "God bles him" or "Bail ó Dhia air" no "Día dá bheannuigheadh."
    If a child falls he should be given a pinch of salt on the tongue saying "gorm is coisgrigeadh tú" and the remainder is thrown into the fire.
