  1. The following story was told to me by my father who is 50 years of age.
    Long ago there was a man named John Moran who was living in Graffa. He used to be out late every night playing cards at Mr. Scanlan's house. He got a fright one night but that didn't prevent him from playing cards.
    On the 10th of April in the year 1803 John Moran stayed out until 4 OC in the morning. When he was up near Lavery's house he heard music and a queer sound. The thing approached and the man did not get afraid. He thought it was a horse but as it drew nearer he saw that it was a "puca". The "puca" asked the man would he like to go on his back for a ride and the man refused. At that moment he was taken off his feet and was found in a marshy bog in the morning unconscious.
