  1. In the year 1924, a few Germans visited Knockanore. Having heard the local tradition about gold being found in this hill, they began earnestly digging a hole on its summit, the Leact. It was about 20 ft. wide and 40 feet deep, but they failed to find any treasure. This was closed in, and only a small hole now remains to mark the spot.
