Churn making: The churn making industry has almost died out owing to vast numbers of creameries throughout the county. The man who made barrells and churns was called a cooper. His tools consisted of spoke-shave, cooper's adze, draw knife, large please about three feet long called a jointer or tying plane a sow and a hatchet. Before putting the wood of the barrell or churn together he mad e a fire of shavings and placed the staves in hoops made for the purpose of putting staves into shape. When he had all the staves of a round shape he joined them together and put a light steel hoops on them and so formed the churn or barrell. This man also made vessels of wood - "raggins"
