  1. Famine Times
    When potatoes were dug, the good ones were picked up and the small ones and bad ones were kept for seed, and so yielded bad crops the following year.
    Indian meal was almost the only food obtainable, as there was no government relief given in this area. People died by fences and were left (unburied) there. This caused disease and fever.
