Come all ye lads and lassies and listen to me a while.

    John Collins
Come all ye lads and ladies and listen to me a while
I'll sing to you a verse or two that will cause for you to smile.
It's all about a game of cards with that I will begin
    At any rate the game was played in Connell's gambling den;
The boys they used to go in there and have a game and chat
When Nelie would remind them she has a turkey plump and fat. At first they did not notice her but she thus to them did say
If ye do not play my turkey boys ye had better keep away.
The boys they then consulted they were in a corner tight
They came to play the turkey on the following Thursday night
But when they heard the price to pay it almost struck them dumb
And each one said to himself I wish I did not come
The game commenced it was very tight and not a word was said
Sometimes it was evens round about again it was one ahead.
Till at last the final game was played just as the clock struck nine
When John Mitchael struck the table saying the turkey she is mine.
Now John brought home his turkey and put her in a coop
He went to bed and had happy dreams of drinking mugs of soup.
But dreams turn out contrary I often heard it said
For Nellie had the turkey gone while John he dreamt in bed.
She arose early next morning just as the day did break
And crossed the walls and ditches and headed for the lake.
She searched around the premises until she found her hen
Saying now I'll have both ways the turkey and the ten
So John he missed his turkey sometime later in the day
