    of these people are living now. The boys who used to attend used to have to bring a penny a week to pay the master. The used to have to bring a few sods of turf or a few peices of sticks as fire for the school. They used to write on slates and they used to write with quills also. No Irish was spoken in those schools. The ruins of one of these is still to be seen. They had no seats, but they used to sit on stones, which were gathered in the school for that purpose. The Masters used to stay in little houses near the schools. All the[y] boys were not allowed to talk Irish. They would be punished if they spoke it.
