Long ago there were many industries in this country.

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
brocead petticoat, or shirt and a woollen polca or blouse and a checked apron made from linen.
When going out _ Grandma wore a dolman. The wool was teased, carded spun, dyed, and woven in the houses of long ago.
The dull yellow that came from peat soot the black of bog ore, and the dark blue of iris root were mixed to gether, and then used for dyeing the wool.
There was another industry in this country in olden times.
There used to be schools where lace making was carried on.
A number of boys an girls would go "these schools and learn how to make lace.
In olden times the girls had to herd sheep and cows, and while they were doing so they were busy with the flat handle needle, and white linen thread making lace.
