    had meat and chicken. The people went to bed at nine or ten o'clock. They never ate late at night. On the occasion of a wedding the people usually killed a fowl. the poor people could not afford to do this as they had to sell the fowl to pay the rent and rates. I don know when tea was first known off. The people were so ignorant as to how tea was made they threw out the liquid and ate the leaves. Children did not get tea after it was first introduced into this country.
    Wooden noggins were used before cups were known off.It was a small wooden vessel like a tub with a handle on it and hooped with wood and made of oak.
    It was harder to live in those days than in the present day. No more than ten-pence a day was given and the men walked miles and miles
