    When a pair were married they always went for a drive when they left the church. The men always raced their horses & whoever got to the bride’s house first was awarded a bottle of whiskey. Often there would be up to twenty side cars in the race. Early in the morning the prospective bridegroom went round the neighbours’ houses with a bottle of whiskey & a glass for his friends to drink his health. On the way back from church shots were often fired by the well wishers.
