- St. Bartholomew's Well is in Piltown, St. Mochua's Well in Clashmore and St. Brigid's Well in Ardsallagh.
People take water from St. Mochua's Well for their tea but not for any other purpose. There is a big wall all round the well so that no cattle can get in there. Those having pains in their back go there to get cured.
One Saturday night a woman washed her clothes in it and on Sunday morning when she went there for water the well had shifted. The natives travelled everywhere looking for it but they could not locate it. At last an old man found it three of four fields away from it's original place.
People used to go to St. Bartholomew's Well long ago but no one goes there now. There is timber over it. Pilgrims used to leave medals, beads and ribbons there. A 'Pattern' used to be held there every year in August but that custom no longer exists.- Bailitheoir
