Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)a churn. Of these there are various kinds. The most common is the dash churn. This is a king of barrel wide at each end and narrow in the middle. To it is fitted a lid. Through a hole in the middle of the lid passes a long pole. At the end of the pole is a flat piece of timber called a dash. This dash is moved up and down through the milk until the butter is formed This is difficult work (espeal) especially in cold weather. To make things easy hot water is added to the milk.
