    part of Ireland. When the stalks are fairly big they are sprayed. They are sprayed three times altogether. In October they are dug and put into a small pit covered with clay.
    They are left there until the Spring comes. Then they are brought into the garden and put into a big pit. They are covered with "scraws".
    There are several varieties of potatoes. Their names are:- Skerry, Kerrs Pink, Arran Banner, Arran Victor, Epicure, Queen, Arran Chief, Champion, Dates.
    Some of the nicknames are - poirin, crúger, carstín
