- In this part of the country the people cut the potatoes in order to make slits. The slits or "sciolltháin" have eyes. The part of the potato that is left is called the "luidheán". Afterwards they plough the land. Then they harrow it and score it.When they are ready to set the potatoes they get the "stíbhín". The slits are put into the holes that the "stíbhín" makes.
