    Long ago there used to be at least five men used to be making bargains at the fair. There used to be three men making the bargain for the seller and two for the buyer. First the two for the buyer used to ask the (two) three for the seller how much did they want. When the men had the bargain made if the seller was not satisfied the men used to pull for the difference. Whichever of the parties pulled the right straw got three-quarters of the difference and the other side got the other quarter.
