- There were three schools in this locality. One in Prendergasts of Cloonlee and one in Mulkeens of Curragh and in Carneys of Knock. The schools used to be held in barns or on a lonely road or lane. Jennings was the man who taught in Curragh he lived in Aughamore. Byrne was the man who taught in Knock And Waldron taught in Cloonlee, he lived in the village of Derrymore in Beaken.
