    Near Tottenham Green a long time ago a black dog used to be seen.

    The chapel of Caroreigh in the parish of Taghmon was built in the year of 1847. It was very hard to build it that time for as we all know it was nearly the hardest time in Irish history. They were a long time collecting for it, but at last they got it built. Mass was said in it for a number of years and there were no seats in it. The people of the locality were very poor and they couldn't afford to give anything towards it. People therefore had to stand while mass was being offered and there was ashes and cinders under their feet in order to keep them off the soft earth. This was going on for some time and one Sunday the priest told them from the altar that anyone who could afford it
