    the earth and remain there for the next twenty four hours
    It is the custom of our house to retire to bed at ten o-clock. Mother remains up last she sweeps the floor throurly clean, leaves a nice fire and chairs round it, and a jug drinking water and some glasses on the table.
    It is also the custom of people when throwing out water to lower their vessel to the ground and let the water flow.
