    There was a story told locally about the Saint and a beggar. St Brigid had once a very large flock of sheep and she tended the sheep every day. This man also had a great herd of sheep. Seven of that man's sheep died. One day he dressed himself up as a pauper and came begging to Brigid for a sheep. He got the sheep and carried it home. He came again dressed in the same pauper's clothes, begging for another sheep. He got the sheep again. He did that trick seven times in succession
