  2. Marriages are forbidden during Lent and Advent. Marriages do not take place in May, July, October because they are considered unlucky. It is also supposed to be unlucky to marry on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. In the olden times no dowry was given but goods and stock were given in exchange, and marriages took place in houses.
