- There was a young man one time lived beyond near the hill of Carbury Co. Kildare.
This man was very fond of card-playing and stopping out late hours at night and returning home he had to cross a lonely path through woods and fences. It happened this night he was going home and as he was getting over the fence he caught the stump of an old decayed tree to assist him across this broke with him and as it did a big blood-hound jumped out from behind it.
This hound kept throwing the man on in front of him untill he got him in, in his own door. It was the man's father who was dead knew what was going to happen came back that night and kept throwing (lh) his son on in front of him until he got him safe into the house, saving him from the spirit. This young man who was near dying with fright went to bed and had to remain there for some time during this the hound walked arouned the house howling loudly for three days and three nights.
The man's friends who were very much annoyed, decided on sending for the priest. When the priest came he took a book from his pocket and commenced to read and say prayers, after he had read a(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
