   184 and on her arrival she used produce the snuff-box.She and Jack the Tank were bitter enemies.The people whom they visited knew this and never mentioned one name to the other.One evening Jack the Tank visited our house and he had a pair of new boot laces.He was boasting he got a present of them.When he produced the boot laces.My uncle James who was listening asked him was it Miss Burke gave him the present.Jack got so indignant he went over to the table got the scissors and cut out the pocket containing the boot laces,and burned them all in the fire.Jack the Tank and Miss Burke brought little bags for flour ,they got flour, tea,and sugar ,snuff and clothes as charity.Another used go around she was so old that she used be called "98".She wore a white muslin cap trimmed with lace,a white apron,and a little black cloak.She could climb the walls .Often my grandfather took her over the walls in his arms.These poor people were very welcome .Everybody had great respect for them.Little "98"used bring a bag for flour, tea and sugar.They came in, sat down,
