   In my father's farm there are many queerly named fields. One of those is called the "Cunnigain" which means the burrow. I do not know how the field derived its name. Another is the "Cathair", but how this name came to be called to it is a mystery.

   In a neighbour's farm there are many oddly named fields also. This farm is about half a mile north of Drumbaniffe School, which is about six miles north east of Ennis. One of these fields is called "Poll a' Turcaidhe". It is said that a man was about to bury turkeys in this field and that he found an old shoe full of gold in the grave which he was preparing. Another field in the same farm is called "Páirc a' Luachar". This is a marshy field on which many rushes grow.

   Both of these farms are in the neighbourhood of Drumbaniffe School, which is about six miles north-east of Ennis.

   On another neighbour's farm there is a field called "Poll a' Mhárla" and this field got its name from a hole in which marl, a white substance used as manure, was (?)
