  1. In this parish there is no special matchmaker and matches are seldom made nowadays.
When a match is being made the matchmaker goes to the house of the bride-to-be and gives an account of the match to her parents. If he match pleased the parents, he father goes and walks the land, at the same time taking an account of the stock.
After both parties have conversed on the matter, they appoint a day with the parish priest for the marriage. When the fixed day is at hand, the man to be married always comes to the chapel before the woman.
After the marriage both go to the bridegrooms house where they hold a dance for their friends and neighbours. Some leave immediately after the marriage and go to Limerick for the wedding breakfast, after which they go on their “Honeymoon” for a month or so.
It is customary for both bride and bridegroom to visit the home of the brides parents after a month and stay the night if possible.
