  1. The Norbary Line.
In this parish there is a road called the "Norbary Line". It was built in 1873 and when it was being made there was gold found buried in the ground. The builders of the road maintained that they were the lawful owners of the money. The government declared that they had no claim to it and the result was that it ended in a law case. This is a very memorable event on account of a statement made by a man named Mr. Ned Bourke of Aughrim who said that it was "current coin, my Lord, under George the 3rd".
