    O'Gonnelloe Hurling Team.
The following Ballad was collected from Tim Curtin Ballybran O Gonnelloe (one of the team) by his nephew,Patrick
    James Curtin Ballybran O Gonnelloe.
It is generally supposed that James Fitzgibbon Ballhhurley O Gonnelloe. was the author. He also composed "Mooneys Oscar mare" 'Lady View' and later compositions of his were 'The Martyrs of Killaloe' 'De Valera' and 'Pat Holohan by the lake.'
    The Hurlers.
    1
It being that season of the year
    With Nature's Yield in store
When fields were golden and trees were bare
    And harvest then almost o'er
A few of Erin's gallant sons,
    Whose courage was often tried
With bands did meet with hearts elite
    Down by the Shannon Side.
    11
    The hurlers of O Gonnelloe.
    With Brady at his head
Will cross the Shannons rapid stream
Quite free from fear or dread.
Resolved to die ,their strength to try
    Like heroes filled with pride
With strength and might and hearts upright
    Down by the Shannon Side.
