  1. Unless for very poor people there would always be a coach and pair of white horses for the bride and groom and a fiddle and a dance that night. As soon as the bride and groom got outside the church door the people threw rice on them. When they came home, the guests all ran to try who could kiss the bride first.
    When a suitor was coming to his his intended bride he usually came on horseback or on a jaunting car.
    Married in brown, you'll live out of town
    Married in grey, you'll live far away.
    Married blue, he's sure to be true
    They galloped the horses from the church to the bridge's house.
    At the wedding the driver who has the best horse got a bottle of whiskey.
    Marriages take place most frequently before and after Lent.
    Matches are made in this district. Money is given as dowry. Stock and Goods are also given. No one remembers marriages taken place in the houses.
