  1. The local fairs are held in Cootehill and Tullyvin. A fair is held once every month in Cootehill, but it is only held once a year in Tullyvin.
Dealers would sometimes come to the houses any buy cattle and other animals there. There is a special place in the town where cattle are sold, called the cow-green. When an animal is sold luck-money is always given. It is called a luck-penny.
When the bargain has been made the parties concerned show their agreement by striking each others hands. When the animals are sold they are marked by clipping hair off their sides.
There is no special fair held for sheep or horses.
