7 Told To:- Geraldine Mc.Craith (12). Above address.
On one occasion as a coffin was proceeding to the Burial ground, there was as usual a multitude of women following it, keening as hard as they could. On their way they passed through a glen, and on coming out of it they came to a cross road, the funeral turned to the left, and at the same time turning to the right was a creel of turf.
Busily engaged the keeners turned to the right after the creel of turf. They walked along for seven miles and at last they got tired of the keening, and looked up to see how far more they had to go.
With surprise and dismay, they looked up to see that it was after a creel of turf they had been walking instead of the funeral. The place is now called Glenkeen, on account of the keeners, passing through it after the funeral.- Collector
