  1. Once upon a time, long ago, there was a landlord living near our school. He had an agent. One morning the agent went into a poor cottage, for the rent. The people had no money to give him. There was a pot of porridge boiling on the fire. The agent would not give the woman of the house time to boil the porridge. He put all the people out of the cottage then.
    People say that he is to be seen yet, near this school, with the pot of porridge round his neck.
