    he was thirty, he went to Strandhill. There was a stone wall ditch six foot there. A native of Strandhill bet with him that he wouldn't jump it without leaving his hand on it. Michael brought him to a gate with spikes. He wasn't able to jump it but Michael did. He was a great singer. John Skeffington, Smutterna, was also a famous singer and was selected to sing at the "harvest home" in Rockingham.
