    her chance to get the Friar in charge of it asleep. She laid her fair hand on the mystic stone when, raising her hand it flew from its place and giving vent to the world of imprisoned waters which it restrained, the torrent swept swiftly along, overwhelming the unconscious city and all its inhabitants in utter destruction and converted the smiling valley into a waste of roaring water. Of course it goes without saying that poor Sheelagh lost her life - but the lake was called after her.
