  1. There are the ruins of two old castles in this district, namely Castle Saunderson and Quivvy. Castle Saunderson is about three miles from Belturbet and Quivvy is about two-and-a-half. Castle Saunderson belonged to Colonel Saunderson and Quivvy belonged to Lord Lanesborough.
    It is about twenty years since anyone lived in either of them. In Castle Saunderson a few years ago the Cadets stayed for a few months in it during the time of the fighting in Ireland.
