  1. About thirty -five years ago, a four masted schooner named the 'Marvin', drifted in near Loop Head and went aground near very steep cliffs. All the crew managed to escape drowning by shinning the tallmasts, and so on to the dry land above. The captain's wife was aboard the ship, and she like the rest escaped the doomed vessel. When she reached dry land, she found to her dismay that her little pet-cat was still on the ship. One of the sailors on seeing her disrtess, volunteered to rescue the animal, and so a would be tragedy was changed into all -round
