and saw ten fingers on the rail. He took out the revolver and said "Who is there?" but there was no response. He called again with the same result. The third time he said "If you do not answer me I will shoot" - still no answer came so he fired. He soon found out that he had shot his toes off as it was his toes he had seen at the end of the bed.
