  1. There are no peculiar standing in this Parish. In Lappon Rocks there is a cross erected in memory of Captain McCarthy. This cross is standing in the exact spot where he was shot in an ambush on Easter Sunday morning nineteen twenty-one. A regiment of Black-and-Tans marched down theLappon Road and on across the country and there on the Lappon Rocks Captain McCarthy and about thirty men were found in a house now owned by Eddie-the-Legman where they had spent the night, a scuffle started which ended in a fierce ambush McCarthy
