dance every night. The good dancer's then showed their companions the steps which were principally the perricoat - ty, the polka, the waltz and the meugerka, the music being supplied by the voilinists. The famous step - dancers were Mary Brady and her sister of Mountain Lodge Post Office who danced on many a stage at the local concerts in their youth. My father's grandfather John Brady of Lappan was a good dancer and it is said that the fairies brought him to a dance on Croghan mountain. Terence Lynch, Eddie Gaffney, and the Middleton family of Dooreagh were expert dancers.
Michael O' Brien and his family of Carrickcromin are all famous singers and poets, his nephew having sung for the Radio Broadcast last year. The Kelly and Brady family of the same townland are also good singers. Mrs Mary Brady of Dooreagh is also a good singer and lilter. Herbert Marshall of Drudimon is a good storyteller as well also as is an old uncle of mine aged eighty four Andrew Clerkin of Drumrath in Laragh.
