chemical manure on the potatoes in the ridges or drills, then the drills are closed with a drill plough made by buray of Bailaborrough, after that the potato crop is finished, and every man goes home happy and content. The man that has his crop sown goes to his house satisfied.

  2. In this district the people generally help each other with the putting in and taking out of the potatoes. This is called "earning swops". One man comes and helps his neighbour and instead of paying him with money, this man goes to him and pays him by work. So in this way every man gets his own work done by "earning swops".
In this district potatoes are frown in both drills and ridges. In this town-land the potatoes are dropped by the children of each house and sometimes by a workman but between both all the potatoes are dropped. When the potatoes are dropped there is chemicial manure shaken on ridges and drills to improve the growth of the seed.
The potatoes are put in much easier in drills than in ridges so there is not so much time used in spreading the yard manure for the putting in of the seed
