    on near Tonnyinn Mill and at "the tanyard" by the Brady family known locally as "the tanyards".
    Nail-making: - Nails were made locally from old spades and other scrap iron. Families engaged at this craft were called "nailers". In the forges the smithies made their own nails formerly and, as yet, they made gates, ploughs, fire-cranes, tongs, spades etc.
    Lime-burning: - Lime-Kilns are to be found on nearly every farm. The limestone seems to have been brought from Carrick and from Ross in Laragh. The lime was used as a manure and also as a white-wash for the outer and inner walls of dwellings and out-offices. A glue made from cows' horns was mixed with it to prevent it from rubbing off.
    Dyeing: - Up to the present day blackberries are used to dye bright materials, and even black strong tea is still used to dye brown. Another dye was made locally from a mixture of log-wood and coprice
