  1. Riddles
There is nothing more enjoyable than telling riddles during the Winter nights. These are a number of riddles that are found in my locality.
What is it that walks with its head down?
    A nail in your boot.
What is it that shines in the water yet never touches it?
The moon shining in the water
What is full and holds more?
A pot full of potatoes- when you pour in water.
As round as an apple, as plump as a ball can climb the church, over steeple and all?
    The sun
I ran till I got it I sat down to look for it and I went home without it?
    A thorn in your foot
What is it that never eats nor sleeps yet has four fingers and a thumb?
    A glove
What is it that is cut handed round to everybody yet never eaten?
    A pack of cards
What goes round and round the house and sleeps in the corner at night?
    The brush
What goes away between two words and comes home between two waters?
A man fetching water in pails
What is black and white and read all oever?
    The newspaper
Down in yon meadow there is a house and in the house there is a press and in the press there is a drawer and in the drawer there is a cup and in the cup there is a cup that they every man must take?
