    Three months before the Whitsun fair
    The Ribbon men they did prepare
    To wreck and plunder and to tear
    And burn the town of Shercock
    II
    With ribbons tied around their waist
    They did come up with greatest haste
    But their jackets we did soundly laste
    In the Whitsun fair of Shercock
    III
    A Tory whistle loud and shrill
    It blew from Taghart to Morrows Hill
    'Hold on my boys destroy and kill
    The Protestants of Shercock'
    IV
    The 'tigs' cried out is this they way
    That we will make the massacre
    The Ribbon men will win the day
    And they attacked Shercock
    V
    To Caffery we applied for air
    But us he all denied and said
    'The longest stand and the toughest hide
