    concealed for over a month about two miles from his home and until Cormwallis granted him a pardon. Byrne, the organiser was killed at Vinegar Hill. Kelly was eagerly sought for by the Yeomen but suceeded in making his way to France and thence to America where he joined the Navy. Some of the men about Shercock and Kingscourt went to meet the Wexford men in Meath and lost their lives in the cause.
