  1. Spinning and weaving is still carried out throughout Ireland. First the ground is ploughed and the flax seed is sown. Then is is well harrowed.
    When it is ripe it is pulled and put into sheaves and drowned. Then it is taken out to dry. When it is dry, it is taken to the mill and scutched. Then it is ready to be spun.
