As busy as John the Hackler's morning
John the Hackler was a man who is supposed to have lived in the parish of Munterconnaught, about 1780 and had a great may looms for spinning and making yarn of his wool. Generally on two occasions each week he was busier than on other days, for he called on the help of some local people to assist him then. He was up at 4 o'clock these mornings getting everything ready, showing each person their work sorting and arranging gruel, oaten bread (a Bonnar of same) and some herrings, work commenced at a fierce pace and continue so during the day.
When people are very busy in the morning they are said to be as busy as John the Hackler or like John the Hackler's morningShe is as quick as the Grógas mare
