    Some of them can tell fortunes and the people go to have them told.
    They earn plenty of money going from house to house begging. The men clean chimneys and do other odd jobs and sell pipe lids, some of them are tin-smiths and sell tin cans. On fair days they sing or play music on the streets and dance. The women sell mats, ornaments, hand-made lace and paper flowers.
    The best known here are the "Wilders". They have a large family and when they visit this town the children come to our school. They are very useful to their parents because they make paper flowers and sell them. They have also a cage with wild animals for which they charge two pence to see.
