parents, when they got to hear the house they had gone to, usually went and brought them home and consented to their marriage. There was usually a race from the Chapel on horse - back. Some friends of the bride and some friends of the groom compete with each other in this race. The husband carried his wife behind him on horse - back. Whoever wins the race gets a bottle of whiskey and usually distributes it among the rest of the party.
