Near Cavan people used a high circular tub with iron bands round it when churning.
Some churn with a long stick which has a flat circular bottom in which are slits -this is called a brash. Others have a machine which works the brash . Attached to the machine is an iron bar which is attached to a horse by chains.The horse : walks slowly round a circular path and in doing so he draws round the bar which works the brash
